Renaldo & the Loaf – Lime Jelly Grass

This is where the madness starts! The opening track to the gaggle of lysergic tape-loops, toy drums, and candy-coloured chants that is their 1980 masterpiece ‘Songs For Swinging Larvae’.

Renaldo & The Loaf – Is Guava A Donut?

Another gem from the Portsmouth duo’s second album ‘Songs For Swinging Larvae’, where some serious questions are asked. Tape Loops like manna from heaven.

Renaldo & The Loaf – A Medical Man

Insanity from an album that never really lets up during its (almost) 40 minutes. Yes, this is definitely ‘I think I took too many’ material. Wonderful stuff from the Portsmouth duo’s 1980 masterpiece ‘Songs For Swinging Larvae’.

Renaldo & The Loaf – B.P.M

Treated tape loop madness from Portsmouth’s answer to the Residents. This is from their insane masterpiece, 1980’s ‘Songs For Swinging Larvae’. “Bet you didn’t know today, was such a long time coming”.

Renaldo & The Loaf – Bali Whine

A track taken from Renaldo & the Loaf’s stunning second album ‘Songs For Swinging Larvae'(1980).

This opens with chimes and warm, lush clarinet, only to be interrupted by Residents-like Gamelan. The track ends with a backwards version of the opening section; reminding those with 60’s and 70’s experimental music collections how lovely backwards tape loops truly sound.

Renaldo & the Loaf – Honest Joe’s Indian Gets the Goat On The Way To The Cowboys’ Conga

The whole of Renaldo & The Loaf’s second album, ‘Songs For Swinging Larvae’, is an insane lysergic fevered dream; and the track that finishes side 1 is no exception.
This was from 1980 and was released on Ralph Records. It hasn’t dated. It can’t date.
