Model 500 – Mind Changes

Classic Detroit Techno from 1992 with a track from Juan Atkins’s Model 500 project. This was from ‘The Passage’ EP, and is the standout track. Hi tech Soul with some synthetic melancholia for good measure.

Model 500 – Starlight (Soulteks Falling Stars mix)

Juan Atkins’ sparse, minimal Dub Techno tune gets a glittering, sparkly Tech-House re-working from Soultek; circa 2007.

Model 500 – Off To Battle

From the B-Side to 1987’s ‘Sound Of Stereo’, Juan Atkins hands us the classic Detroit Techno blueprint yet again. Digi funk and Hi-Tech Soul right here my brothers and sisters.

Model 500 – Sound Of Stereo

Detroit Techno from the originator Juan Atkins; Techno that is heavily indebted to Electro and Kraftwerk. This is an early Techno classic from 1987 where you can bask in those 808 snares and claps.

Model 500 – Starlight

Deep ‘n’ Dubby Techno that feels like being immersed in warm liquid. This is from the ‘Starlight’ EP (1995); and has it’s kin in acts like basic Channel, Deepchord, Echospace, etc.

Model 500 – Milky Way

Boss Techno tune from Juan Atkins; this track from the 1995 album ‘Deep Space’ could easily be described as the epitome of Detroit Techno.

Model 500 – Control

Juan Atkins a.k.a The Godfather of techno is back with his Model 500 moniker. However, this time he is not alone, and Model 500 has become a Detroit Techno supergroup with Atkins joined by ‘Mad’ Mike Banks, DJ Skurge, and mark Taylor. Banks’ influence is apparent, with many tracks on the new album ‘Digital Solutions’ having a Martian and UR feel to them. The album has some variety on it, with some slow Electro jams on there. There is a moment on ‘Digital Solutions’ when the listener is confronted by a horrific guitar solo. Yes, your ears are telling you the truth and it is best that you mark that track down as ‘forbidden’ and move on. This track, this track is pure Detroit Techno.
