Heartthrob – Nairobi Candles (Fuck Rachel Tension Mix)

Jesse Siminski has always thrown some cheeky moves; even with his toughest Techno tunes. This, from his latest EP ‘Nairobi Candles: Burning Bright’, up’s the cheeky quotient and throws some starry Disco moves.

Heartthrob – The Bunker Podcast 143

Podcast of a recent live jam with mostly new and unreleased material from Jesse Siminski a.k.a Heartthrob. Does this mean there’s a long overdue album from him? Who know’s (even some EP’s would be nice), but his style and panache is still on display, and demonstrates why he was always heads above the crown in the minimal scene. The final track of this mix is really fantastic, and has all of the hallmarks of a 4am track. Enjoy!

Heartthrob & Troy Pierce – Island Rumours

Kind of a last hurrah from the M_NUS stalwarts, as Troy Pierce was due to leave and start the ‘Items & Things’ labels with fellow M-NUSers Magda and Marc Houle. Heartthrob a.k.a Jesse Siminski teams up with Troy Pierce yet again for an EP of solid, Minimal Techno; released in 2010. This has loose, funky digital licks in among the solid, chunky beats. Lekker!

Heartthrob – Slow Dance

Minimal Techno M_NUS style; from Jesse Siminski’s sole album under his Heartthrob moniker. This track kinda goes nowhere until that filthy bass riff comes in at the 2 minute mark. Lovely stuff from 2008.

Heartthrob – Never Wanted One

From his last EP, 2015’s ‘Haus Arrest’, Jesse Siminski delivers a slice of Techno that shows full knowledge of the genres history, whilst keeping it totally contemporary. Techno brings to mind John Peel’s comment regarding the Fall, “Always different; always the same”.

Heartthrob – Future Past

Absolutely stunning opener from Heartthrob’s sole album, 2008’s ‘Dear Painter, Paint Me’. This track can act as dancefloor fodder; or it can be the soundtrack to driving around a futuristic city (something the Detroit guys used to say about their music). Elegant, sleek, and layered Techno from Jesse Siminski. We here at the Sentinel wish Jesse would up his production output once again, as he was always a class act.

Heartthrob – Baby Kate

Minimal Techno ‘anthem’ from Jesse Siminski here, that was included in 2006’s ‘Min 2 Max’ compilation on Minus Records. Staccato bleeps and chugging synths weave around a tune that’s trippy and truly groovy; hence the anthem status.

Heartthrob – Diaghilev

Great Minimal tune from Jesse Siminski a.k.a Heartthrob.

Doesn’t seem to really build up, or go anywhere; yet it’s a brooding dancefloor number nonetheless. One for 5 in the morning, or later.
