Porter Ricks – Scuba Rondo

Murky, sub-aquatic minimal Techno from the Berlin based duo of Thomas Köner and Andy Mellwig. This is from their fantastic new album ‘Anguilla Electrica’, which is their first for 18 years. Released on the Tresor label.

Marc Houle – Extreme

Nutted minimal from a man who does nutted very well, the one and only Marc Houle. This is from a compilation EP from 2007 called ‘Spies & Lies’; released on ‘Items 7 things’, the label he runs with Magda and Troy Pierce.

Heartthrob – The Bunker Podcast 143

Podcast of a recent live jam with mostly new and unreleased material from Jesse Siminski a.k.a Heartthrob. Does this mean there’s a long overdue album from him? Who know’s (even some EP’s would be nice), but his style and panache is still on display, and demonstrates why he was always heads above the crown in the minimal scene. The final track of this mix is really fantastic, and has all of the hallmarks of a 4am track. Enjoy!

Richie Hawtin – DE9 Transmissions

Back in 2005, the act of using tools such as Ableton Live and DigiDesign ProTools to DJ was cutting edge; and the sheer volume of tracks that Hawtin mixes into this set moves it somewhere between mix and composition. This was also defining the ‘Minimal’ sound around this point; a sound that helped revitalise Techno, yet became an albatross in itself (how many times have we seen that?). Techno fans will recognise snippets of beloved tracks here and there on this solid gold release. Dig in.

DVS1 – Electric

Some Techno from 2015; and some may know this from the old man dancing video doing the rounds on YouTube.

Klaudia Gawlas

Crispy, textural techno.

Heartthrob & Troy Pierce – Island Rumours

Kind of a last hurrah from the M_NUS stalwarts, as Troy Pierce was due to leave and start the ‘Items & Things’ labels with fellow M-NUSers Magda and Marc Houle. Heartthrob a.k.a Jesse Siminski teams up with Troy Pierce yet again for an EP of solid, Minimal Techno; released in 2010. This has loose, funky digital licks in among the solid, chunky beats. Lekker!

Makaton – Coast To Coast

Techno from the UK’s Steve Bailey. Classic touches for a minimal track from his brand new EP ‘When The Dead Rise From The Sea’.

A Guy Called Gerald – @ RTS.FM; 16.04.2011: LIVE

Gerald doing his thing; including covering Adonis’ ‘No Way Back’, and playing out his own stone cold hit ‘Voodoo Ray’.; as well as a version of 808 State’s ‘Pacific’ (Gerald was in 808 State then and, many say, was the guy who wrote it). This guy is a true UK Techno hero; along with the likes of Baby Ford, Andrew Weatherall, and Mark Broom. Goes all DnB at the end, which is a shame; but worth a  look for the first hour and 15 minutes.

A Guy Called Gerald – Live In The Boiler Room (2013)

This is Gerald’s 2nd Boiler Room set (he did one in 2012; already posted on The Sentinel), where he delivers his own tunes via 2 laptops and Reason software. House/Techno tunes or, as Gerald calls his stuff, ‘Ghetto-Tech’. Enjoy!
