Einstürzende Neubauten – Pelikanol

This was part of ‘Silence Is Sexy'(1999), whilst also being separate from the rest of the album. To be fair, it’s a work in itself and it’s not ludicrous to class it as a stand alone piece; and what a piece it is! Dedicated to a brand of school glue, with Blixa whispering a nonsense rhyme regarding said glue against a backdrop of amplified aluminium strips (an installation built by the bands N.U. Unruh). There is an extremely unsettling vibe to this track; recalling the uneasiness and creeping dread found on the earlier Industrial music; back when the genre wasn’t Reznor-induced digital Metal. a quiet, more thoughtful take on the bands earlier sound.
