John Coltrane – Living Space

John Coltrane’s unfinished album was completed by his widow Alice Coltrane. On sections of the album, Alice replaced Jimmy Garrison’s bass parts with new recordings by Charlie Haden, and she herself recorded new solos. On this track however, she left the original rhythm section parts, adding string and tamboura parts only. The original track was recorded around 1965; whilst the overdubs etc from Alice Coltrane were executed around 1971/2. Beautiful, beautiful stuff.
