Bandulu – Downward Glance

Muswell Hill’s Bandulu were one of UK Techno’s major players in the 90’s. They delivered music that gave a heavy nod to both the original Detroit sound, as well to Dub Reggae (this was when Dub Techno had a more obvious alignment to the style of the Jamaican music). ‘Downward Spiral’, from their ‘Phaze In Version’ EP (1993), is Dub free and owes more to the motor city. There is a real Electro influence as well, and this is unsurprising as that is the bands roots; all ex B-Boys. This dark tune slides along with clattering percussion and warping synths. A tune for travelling on London underground.
