David Sylvian – The Heart Knows better

‘Blemish’ from 2003 was Sylvian’s 6th solo album; although the word solo doesn’t quite cut it here, as two underground giants join him for this, and leave their mark all over the tracks they work on. The two in question are Derek Bailey and Christian Fennesz. Both contribute to varying degrees of success on an album that is at turns breathtaking, and disappointing. This is one of the track that really works wonders, and it sounds like Fennesz is the main collaborator here. The album is about Sylvian’s breakup from his wife Ingrid Chavez, and is incredibly candid and intimate.
