Renaldo & the Loaf – Bearded Cats

After the first 2 Renaldo & The Loaf albums, the Portsmouth duo came up with 1983’s ‘Arabic Yodelling’; an album far more restrained , accessible, and polished than the previous (and frankly insane) efforts. Yes, the music is still on the outer fringes of strangeness, but there is more beauty, more light and shade in among the padded cell loony tunes. Bearded cats is a nice ragtime/vaudeville ditty that’s haunting and strangely beautiful.
