Animal Collective – April And The Phantom

From their very first album (originally credited to Avey Tare and Panda Bear, then later to AC), this track sounds like a cross between The Residents and the Beach Boys. Avey Tare’s childlike vocals see-saw over skittering drum patterns and fuzzy organ riffs.
Screams rub up against sweet melodies in a track that keeps you guessing and is a typically beautiful work from this Brooklyn based band; from their debut ‘Sprit They’ve gone, Spirit They’ve Vanished’ (1999).
