No Neck Blues Band – Assignment Subud

After the first 5 minutes of scrabbling about (without much joy, to be honest), this track starts to really take off and before you know it you’re surrounded by weaving, mantric, psychedelic avant-folk that’s moves into full on Hillbilly Voodoo. An absolutely stunning track once you forget about the opening lack of direction. This is from the Harlem collectives killer 1999 album ‘Sticks & Stones May Break My Bones But Names Will Never Hurt Me’.
