Earth – Omens and Portents I: The Driver

Sparse, cinematic, and restrained; leaving one wondering about labels such as ‘Stoner’ and ‘Doom’ that have been applied to Earth over the years. If anything, the band resemble the minimal Rock of bands like Tortoise ; except without the Jazz fusion or Dub trappings. This is music that can only have come out America, lending itself as a soundtrack to all of the vast canyons and bleached landscapes of the American desert. Lovely opener from 2008’s ‘The Bees Made Honey In The Lions Skull’.
